Presentation

  • The teacher shows the child where the mats are kept.
  • The teacher asks the child to take a mat and find a free floor space in the classroom. Tell the child that you are going to give them a presentation on how to roll and unroll a mat.
  • The teacher takes the mat and holding it directly in front with one hand gripping the nearest edge use the other hand to gently push open the rolled floor mat.
  • Starting from the nearest edge and gripping the mat firmly with both hands begin to roll up the mat in a tight fashion.
  • Once the mat has been completely rolled up stand it on an edge and with a gentle tapping motion on the floor make sure the edges are straight.
  • Ask the child if they would like to try. Allow the child to roll and unroll the mat as often as as they like.
  • Once the activity is completed get the child to return the mat to it’s stand or basket.
